RESOURCE MANAGER (STAFFING)

Permanent, full time

About the role

At MSL, we collaborate with leading global brands to design, build and deliver memorable live events, from exhibitions and trade shows to roadshows and product placements across the UK.

Behind every one of those events is our crew. As our Resource Staffing Manager, you’ll make sure every event has the right people, with the right skills, in the right place at the right time.

You’ll manage our pool of casual staff from start to finish, from forecasting and scheduling to communication shift times and approving timesheets. Acting as the link between our project, creative teams, as well as alongside logistics and warehouse, you’ll turn event briefs into the right crew plan and keep everyone safe, compliant and cost-efficient, even when plans change at short notice.

This role suits a highly organised people person who enjoys juggling many moving parts. In return, you’ll be part of a busy events agency working with some of the biggest brands in the automotive world.

Key responsibilities

  • Resource Forecasting & Capacity: Forecast crew needs from the project calendar, spotting peaks and gaps early. Grow and maintain a reliable pool of skilled casual staff, keep records up to date and support recruitment drives.
  • Crew Training & Compliance: Make sure all crew are properly trained, compliant and up to date on health and safety. Make sure they’re familiar with our event assets and equipment, so they can confidently support on-site builds and staffing across event operations and client delivery.
  • Resource Planning & Scheduling: Schedule the best crew for each event through our scheduling software and make sure everyone arrives briefed and equipped. Manage changes and last-minute cover quickly and calmly.
  • Hours & Timesheets: Manage crew hours, timesheets and expenses, keep crew within legal working-time limits, and work with People & Culture and Finance so everyone is paid correctly and on time.
  • Resource Reporting: Report on crew utilisation, capacity and costs to the Head of Operations, and find ways to improve how crew are planned and booked.

About you

  • Highly organised, able to plan ahead and manage many moving parts at once, staying calm when plans change.
  • Experience managing people and performance, setting clear expectations for crew and allocating work fairly.
  • A confident communicator who works well across departments, acting as the link between project teams, logistics and the warehouse so the right crew are in place to deliver each event brief.
  • Proven experience in resource planning, crew scheduling or workforce co-ordination, ideally in events or live environments.
  • Experience managing casual staff and forecasting demand from a project pipeline.
  • Confident using workforce management software and spreadsheets to track utilisation and costs.
  • Happy to work occasional evenings or weekends when events need it.
  • Previous events experience is desirable.
  • A strong interest in the events and experiential marketing industry and a passion for the automotive sector is beneficial.
  • You must be able to commute to our Alton site daily.
  • A full driving licence.
